It is amazing how far technology has advanced. It wasn’t that long ago that many people did not have telephone or cable television in their home. That changed to the point where telephone and television is standard in most households. Now communication has evolved so that most people have a cell phone and the trend is moving away from having a land line in your home. What is even more amazing is that you can actually watch television on some cell phones.
Cell phones are only a small part of technology advancements that are taking place. Computer mobility is changing rapidly. What was once limited to painfully slow dial-up connections on a desktop computer has developed into high speed internet service on your laptop. A person can now have internet connectivity almost anywhere. This is possible by sharing wireless networks that are becoming more popular every day. If you don’t want to rely on finding a network when you travel you can purchase a wireless plan with a carrier. A wireless card will work anywhere a signal is available. I suggest the MIFI card because it allows multiple users. It operates very similar to wireless routers that are in many homes. Recent technology advancements in smart phones allow some phones to be used as an internet connection device for laptops. Recently I traveled from London to Cincinnati and I had internet service on my laptop the entire time. (I was not driving, of course.)
To put this into perspective, technology is changing rapidly in our personal and business lives. We must not only adapt to it, we must embrace it. Many experts believe that the level of success a business reaches will be determined by how they leverage technology to improve all aspects of their operations.
There is no doubt that we are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. At Baldwin CPAs, we are committed to staying on the leading edge of technology. I hope you are using technology to benefit you in your personal and business lives. You will be glad you did.
