The need for networking is greater today than ever. Many businesses function differently than they have in the past. With more responsibilities and demand for productivity, it is often necessary to reach within and outside your company for information.
Networking allows you to build and maintain relationships with people that may have knowledge and/or skills that may help you succeed. Remember that networking works both ways though. Maintain your relationships by reciprocating with your contacts and proactively sharing information.
Use resources like your local Chamber of Commerce and personal contacts to reach out and provide networking opportunities for your business. Your accountant may be able to provide a referral if you are looking for an attorney, for example. Your next-door neighbor may be able to provide a referral for a good landscaping service.
